Top Tip!

Even more lifts, even more pistes!
Two new lifts, additional pistes and a service road from the valley have been set up in the past year, with a total of 16.4 million Euro invested. This means that the Feuerkogel has gone from being a nice insider tip to a small, yet perfectly formed ski area for connoisseurs. Come and see for yourself!
Top Tip!

Skiing pleasure on the hour!
For those who ski for pleasure and want to pace themselves so they can have a go at testing out the ample sunny terraces at the mountain lodges on the Feuerkogel, can use the hourly ticket to stay in the ski area right up to the very last minute – the journey back down the mountain is valid right until evening time!
Winter hiking paradise Feuerkogel
Kilometres of snow-shoe happiness
The tranquillity of the Salzkammergut region and never-ending kilometres of pristine white splendour in front of you! Snow-shoe hikes and winter treks – especially when you go on a guided tour and put yourself in the safe hands of a guide - are probably one of the most relaxing winter sports there is.
On the Feuerkogel high plateau there are non-stop options for snowshoes. Kilometres of pristine splendour and an experienced mountain guide make it possible for you to leave the daily grind behind, and be completely worry-free.
After relatively easy snow-shoe hiking on the flat, going uphill and downhill can become a challenge, and the Feuerkogel offers the right terrain for every ability level.
Guided tours are recommended, competent partners are Skischule Neuhuber and the team at Capricorn Adventures. Here you can enjoy a fully organised tour with trained mountain guides. You can of course also hire complete equipment.
Romantic!
For romantic evenings high above Traunsee you should definitely go on a torch-lit hike.
Enjoy the idyllic atmosphere and the light plays your torches create in the snow. After this special experience you can bring the evening to a cosy end in one of the mountain inns or even spend the night on the mountain.

After we have checked our equipment we get a brief introduction to interesting facts about orientation and snow. Using GPS compass directions, map and compass we determine the camp area. After looking for a suitable site for the shelter we start building an igloo. Hot tea and snacks will also be served up. As soon as our igloos are ready, we organise our place to sleep for the night. We prepare our evening meal together and spend the night in comfort at the campsite. After a night in the igloo followed by breakfast, we then climb another summit.
After that we raise camp and hike back to the Feuerkogel plateau.
Return for around 3 p.m. In the mountain station there is then a surprise snack at the buffet in the ski school.
Included services: Guide, cable car journey, snow shoes, food, loan of equipment for an overnight stay in an igloo
Equipment required: Winter proof mountaineering shoes, winter gear such as a winter jacket and overtrousers, functional underwear, sleeping bag (min –10 degrees) and camping mat, headlight, candle, bivy sack, change of clothing.

Winter tour 2

From Feuerkogel plateau we hike on snowshoes on a well laid out track into Hintere Edeltal and continue to the Gr. Höllkogel, the highest elevation in the Höllen mountain range. After a brief rest at the summit we climb to Rieder Hütte. Here we organise our camp for the night. Next morning we make our way across Franzental to Pfaffengrabenhöhe. After a break the key point of the tour lies before us. We have to climb 350 metres altitude to Pfaffengraben and climb up the other side to Jagerköpfl. From here we can see Hochleckenhaus, where we head for a well-deserved break.
You now have the opportunity to go down the Aurachkar on snow gliders, or go down on a track which is for the most part very well laid out.
From the Hochlecken car park a shuttle bus brings us back to the Feuerkogelseilbahn again.
Included services: Guide, overnight stay in Riederhütte, cable car journey and shuttle bus, snow glider hire on request.
Equipment required: Winter clothing, sleeping bag for the lodge, change of clothing, sun protection, sunglasses, provisions for the day, tour equipment (shovel, probe, avalanche transceiver).

For groups of more than 8 children, from the age of 11.
Dates in the semester break – price on request - duration 3 days
Meeting point around 8:30 a.m. at the valley station for the Feuerkogel cable car (9:00 a.m. at Neuhuber ski school)
From Feuerkogel plateau we hike cross-country on snow shoes heading for Hochschneid to find a suitable place for us to build an igloo. Once we have found a spot, building starts right away. To loosen us up we play a few fun games in the snow for a break and there is hot tea and snacks to warm us up. Upon completion and setting up our camp for the night we cook our evening meal together in the snow and bring the day to a cosy end at the campsite.
Next morning after breakfast, we pack up our things and head for the Gr. Höllkogel, the highest summit in the Höllen mountain range. From there we go on sleds down to Riederhütte, where we then set up camp for the night. We spend the rest of the day playing in the snow (and maybe go on a little night hike).
On the final day of our expedition after breakfast we head via the Kesselgupf and Totengrabengupf back to Feuerkogel. A few play stations in the snow tempt us on our journey home. Back at the Feuerkogel our winter adventure ends with a cosy snack in the ski school buffet.
